The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) has been reviewing their application processes for the October 2015 Insight Grant opportunity. Below you will find the most recent information on Insight 2015:
- This year’s IG application will be submitted via the legacy Web Forms system.
- The Applicant, and Co-applicants must submit a Web Forms CV (available on the Web Forms system).
- Collaborators will not need a CV, but will be invited by applicants to complete a profile. There is no further information on the Collaborator piece at this time.
- Notice of Intent (NOI) stage will be eliminated
- Research team participants section will remain the same, entitled “Research team, student training, previous output.”
In addition, in an effort to address falling success rates in Insight Grants, SSHRC will implement the following measures:
- Reduction of the maximum grant to $400K
- Reduction of the annual maximum to $100K
- Implementation of a committee budget envelope to encourage greater scrutiny. This year (Fall 2015) committees will be given a budget envelope (which was not part of the evaluation process in recent years). Committees will be discouraged from making any flat cuts to grant budgets.
