Brescia Research Grant Workshop–Focus on Knowledge Mobilization & Translation

You’re invited to attend a Brescia research grant workshop with a special focus on knowledge mobilization (KMb) and knowledge translation (KT). KMb and/or KT strategies (ideas, activities, partners, plans, etc.) are often required to be developed during the research grant proposal stage (for example, SSHRC and CIHR applications), as well as through the lifecycle of a research project (integrated, and end-of-grant). Kmb/KT strategies are key components of engaged research.

When: Tuesday, November 17th, 2015
Time: 11:30 – 1:00pm
Where: Brescia UC, Mother St. James Bldg, Room 136

Areas of focus in this workshop include:

  • Gaining a better understanding of KMb and KT concepts and strategies;
  • Incorporating KMb / KT into the research grant process (integrated and end-of-grant);
  • KMb / KT related funding opportunities; and
  • Success stories: KMb/KT research grant case studies/examples.

Research on Teaching and Learning: Cultivating Communities Conference

Research on Teaching and Learning: Cultivating Communities Conference
December 9-10, 2015
McMaster University | Hamilton, ON

The McMaster Institute for Innovation and Excellence in Teaching and Learning (MIIETL) at McMaster University is excited to announce the ‘Research on Teaching and Learning: Cultivating Communities’ Conference.

This conference is an opportunity to bring together faculty, students, staff, and administrators across disciplines and institutions to discuss how teaching and learning creates communities at local, regional, national, and international levels. We encourage discussion related to how community creates identities and belonging as well as how notions of community establish boundaries and borders.

The program for the conference will consist of short paper presentations, workshops, poster presentations and a keynote address by Katarina Mårtensson from Lund University, Sweden whose work focuses on networks and communities within post-secondary institutions.

We invite abstract submissions that draw connections to community in evidence-informed teaching practices and welcome research on any area related to teaching and learning in higher education, including (but not limited to):
– Collaborative teaching methods
– Building student communities
– Online learning communities and teaching with technology
– Teaching large classes and community building
– Community engaged learning
– Inter- and Trans-disciplinary teaching and learning communities
– Inclusivity and diversity in teaching and learning
– Fostering networks within academia

The Call for Proposals ended on October 6th.
